Visit the scenic and historic West Coast of the South Island and go gold mining at Shanty Town, or visit the amazing pancake rocks.
If you are on the other coast, in Christchurch, experience the beauty of the Avon River, visit the Christchurch Casino or spend a leisurely evening in one of the many restaurants and cafes that Christchurch has to offer.
How about going whale watching in Kaikoura or maybe go swimming with the dolphins?
Or maybe a visit to some of the many Marlborough vineyards is more to your liking?
And if you are staying in Nelson, have a go at sea kayaking, or hiking through the Abel Tasman National Park. And then check out the World of Wearable Arts museum.
If you are in Picton, chances are that you may have already been (or are about to go) for a trip on the InterIslander ferry - a picturesque 92km journey between Picton and Wellington. But if not, or if you want more boating, take a trip through the Marlborough Sounds on either an organised cruise or rent your own boat.
